What is Dementia

Dementia is a general term for a group of symptoms that present as a decline in cognitive function. Some of these symptoms include memory loss, which can disrupt daily life functions and makes it difficult to complete familiar tasks, speech difficulties, and general confusion with person, time, place. These symptoms can become severe enough to impair daily life and independent function.
Dementia also affects a person’s behavior patterns which impacts feelings and relationships with themselves and family members. It is unfortunately a progressive cognitive disease, meaning there is no cure, but understanding the disease through professionals like us can help manage the life of your loved one in a dignified way.

Geriatric Assessment

Geriatric assessments focuses on all aspects of how the client maintains their independence. We observe and assess how the client manages their daily living activities such as cooking, cleaning, bathing etc. Base on the findings we make recommendations to help them maintain their level of function or offer resources to help support them.

Cognitive Assessment

Cognitive assessment (MoCA, MMSE) are used to detect mild cognitive decline and early signs of dementia. It can help identify people at risk of Alzheimer’s disease and help support them through the disease process.
